SPORTS FIXTURES

We will try, through these columns, to keep you updated with news about what are arguably the most important global sporting events coming to South Africa. Bookmark us for regular news, updates and ticket information.

2010 FIFA Football World Cup

As most of you are no doubt aware, major sporting events these days are always preceded by offers of expensive tour packages. Transport and accommodation becomes scarce and expensive. However, visiting South Africa during the World Cup next year need not be a costly exercise reserved for the super rich. Parker Travel is gladly offering assistance for budget minded travellers who will be visiting South Africa in June/July 2010.

Self Drive Packages

We will assist visitors by arranging accommodation and vehicle rental, as well as providing free advice on ideal routes and travelling distances between matches . Our tour itineraries are completely flexible and can be designed around the matches and venues you want to attend. We will arrange car rental and accommodation according to the number of visitors travelling together. We will also assist with suitable travel routes and can advise you on what is and what isn't feasible. South Africa is a big country and many travellers underestimate the travelling distances / times involved between many of the venues. We will help you choose from budget, three, four, or five star accommodation.

We will research and plan an itinerary around your team's matches so that you can experience South Africa in the best possible way in between games. Our routes will take visitors off the beaten track in order to experience our natural beauty and of course our wildlife. For groups of all sizes we can also arrange transport with driver/guides, if required.

We just need to know your flight arrival and departure details, the matches you hope to attend or your favorite team(s) and any preferences you might have in respect of areas you would like to visit.

Accommodation & Transfer Packages

For those who do not wish to drive we are also arranging accommodation and transport services between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and also between Johannesburg and the Kruger Region.

England Test Cricket Tour

England v South Africa tour itinerary revealed.

Cricket South Africa has announced the schedule for England's tour this winter, which will start on November 7. The tour will open with the two Twenty20 internationals in Johannesburg and Centurion and will be followed by five ODIs in Johannesburg, Centurion, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban - with three under floodlights.

The four Test matches will begin on December 16 in Centurion followed by the Boxing Day Test in Durban, the New Year Test in Cape Town, with the series concluding with the fourth Test in Johannesburg. The team will return to the UK on January 19.

Hugh Morris, England Cricket managing director, said: "We are grateful to colleagues and friends in South Africa who have worked with us to provide what we believe is an exciting and well balanced tour. "It makes good sense to start with the ODIs given the schedule of cricket that we have in September, October and November 2009."

"The four Test matches are scheduled for iconic grounds of South Africa and I am sure that thousands of England supporters will be looking forward to spending their Christmas and New Year holidays following the team."
